Ever wondered if you could be the next Picasso? Or maybe you know someone who’s got that creative spark waiting to be unleashed? Well, now’s the time to make it happen! We're excited to announce that applications are now open for our free art programme for 16-24-year olds in London, later this year.

The initiative is an opportunity to give ten young people from ethnic minority and economically challenged backgrounds the chance to express themselves through art, build mental resilience, and forge real, meaningful connections—in real life.

Who’s eligible? You can apply if you are:

  • Aged 16-24

  • From the London Borough of Hackney or surrounding areas (within a 5-mile radius)

  • From ethnic minority backgrounds

  • Experiencing financial hardship

Why apply?

This is your chance to dive into an exciting creative journey, with mentorship and support to turn your passion into reality. Don’t wait—spaces are limited! We’re accepting applicants on a first-come, first-served basis, and the programme starts later this year.

Application deadline extended: Midnight, April 25th, 2025.

“Growing up in a single-income household where free initiatives like this shaped my creative future, I know how much those small opportunities can make a big difference. For me, it was having  the chance to explore creativity and take part in special initiatives that encouraged it.” - Sharyh Murray-Francis, Founder

The bigger picture: addressing young people’s challenges

Recent studies from the NHS highlight something we can’t ignore: the struggles young people in the UK face due to financial hardship and limited opportunities, and the serious toll it takes on their mental health.

What really hit home for us was the data revealing that young people aged 17 to 25 facing mental health concerns are three times more likely to be unable to afford activities like sports, days out, or simply spending time with friends. Even more concerning is that 14.8% of 17 to 22-year-olds dealing with mental-health issues live in households that can't afford enough food.

It shouldn’t be this way, but for so many young people in the UK, economic hardship (and the mental strain that comes with it) is a harsh reality they face every day.

Creative talent shouldn't be blocked by financial barriers, and young people should have access to activities that boost their wellbeing. This year, our programme will help support ten young peopledirectly providing creative activities inclusive of all socioeconomic backgrounds. The 16-24s Art programme aims to provide a safe space where young creatives have the headspace to nurture their artistic talents, forge new connections and explore their creative ideas.
